ARLINGTON — Scotland-Menno placed fourth in the boys’ division and seventh in the girls’ division of the Arlington Last Chance track and field meet, Friday in Arlington.
Arlington edged DeSmet 97 to 92 for the boys’ title. Clark-Willow Lake (80) was third, followed by Scotland-Menno (69).
The Scotland-Menno boys claimed three titles, with Izayah Ulmer winning the 1600 (4:40.12) and anchoring the Trappers to victory in the medley relay (3:45.48). Jaxon Stoebner, Riley Keppen and Bryce Sattler completed the relay for Scotland-Menno.
Also for the Trappers, Mirik Vaith won the 800 (2:13.12).
Clark-Willow Lake scored 103 points to win the girls’ title. Arlington, DeSmet and Deubrook Area each scored 99 points on the day. Scotland-Menno finished with 42 points.
The top finish for the Scotland-Menno girls came in the 1600. Ellyana Ulmer won in 5:28.28, followed by Zoe Schaeffer (5:46.81) and Elle Hlavac (5:46.95) in second and third.

Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025 couldn't keep up with Alcester-Hudson Varsity Cubs and fell 14-4 on Friday.
Alcester-Hudson Varsity Cubs got on the board in the top of the first inning after Delta Pies walked, and Jaeley Christensen doubled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Alcester-Hudson Varsity Cubs scored one run in the top of the third on a solo home run to center field by Jenna Manning.
Alcester-Hudson Varsity Cubs scored six runs on five hits in the top of the fourth inning. Delta Pies hit a grand slam to center field, and an error scored two runs.
Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025 made the score 9-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Trinity Bietz hit a solo home run to center field, and Kyliah Bjorum singled, scoring one run.
Alcester-Hudson Varsity Cubs scored five runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning. Emma Solberg doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Paxtyn Moller scored after tagging up, Emma Moller scored after tagging up, and an error scored one run.
Emma Moller earned the win for Alcester-Hudson Varsity Cubs. The right-handed pitcher surrendered five hits and four runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out 13 and walking three. Trinity Bietz took the loss for Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025. The hurler went five innings, giving up 14 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits, striking out five and walking eight.
Kylie Guthmiller, Trinity Bietz, Ervin Schrock, Nora Robb, and Kyliah Bjorum each collected one hit for Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025. Kylie Guthmiller, Trinity Bietz, and Kyliah Bjorum each drove in one run for Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025.
Alcester-Hudson Varsity Cubs tallied 10 hits in the game. Delta Pies drove the middle of the lineup, leading Alcester-Hudson Varsity Cubs with five runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Paxtyn Moller, Jaeley Christensen, and Jenna Manning each collected two hits for Alcester-Hudson Varsity Cubs. Alcester-Hudson Varsity Cubs had patience at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Paxtyn Moller, Ava Kingma, and Emma Solberg led the team with two walks each. Bats were blistered on Friday, but Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025 couldn't quite get the job done against Elk Point-Jefferson and lost 15-10. Elk Point-Jefferson collected 11 hits, while Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025 had 10.
Elk Point-Jefferson were the first to get on the board in the first when #15 doubled, scoring one run.
Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025 captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first after Trinity Bietz singled to center field, Kylie Guthmiller doubled down the left field line, and Amanda Rames singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Elk Point-Jefferson flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 6-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by #5 on a 3-0 count that drove in three.

Powerful Pitching Performance From Guthmiller Carries Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025 Past Viborg/Hurley

Kylie Guthmiller was dominant in the circle, as the starting pitcher rang up 12 strikeouts in Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025's 8-4 victory over Viborg/Hurley on Monday. Kylie Guthmiller allowed two hits and four runs over seven innings while walking 10.
A solo home run to right field by Nora Robb put Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025 on the board in the bottom of the first.
Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025 scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Nora Robb singled, scoring two runs, Ervin Schrock doubled, scoring one run, a wild pitch scored one run, and Amanda Rames drew a walk, scoring one run.
A double by Samantha Allvin extended the Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 2025 lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the third inning.
Viborg/Hurley scored two runs in the top of the sixth on a home run to center field by Charley.

Congratulations to senior Bryce Sattler, who has been named to the All-State baseball team for 2025! With the award, he becomes the first-ever Trapper to be honored with All-State. Bryce hit .468 this spring, stole 29 bases, and was 3-1 over 34.0 innings on the mound. We're very proud of all the hard work and dedication you've given throughout your 4 years as a Trapper, Bryce!


High School baseball All-Region teams have been announced and they include 4 Trappers this year! Congratulations to Erick Buechler and Bryce Sattler who were each named All-Region, and to Trent Guthmiller and Garret Lehr who received Honorable Mention. Nice job, gentlemen!



Today the Trappers competed in their Region Tournament with a spot in the State Tournament on the line. In the Girls Division Kailin Odens placed 9th and Evie Foss finished 2nd, both qualifying for the tournament. As a team the girls missed qualifying the whole team by only 2 shots! In the boys division no one qualified, but Treytan Bult finished his senior year with his best region finish of his career. Congrats to everyone and thank you for a great year!!

The S/M Trappers softball games have been cancelled today (5/20/25) vs. Parker due to the weather.

UPDATE - Tomorrow's Trappers region baseball game will start at 5:00 in Parkston, not 3:00 as previously scheduled.


Today's Region I baseball tournament games at Parkston have been postponed and will now be played tomorrow (05/21). Scotland/Menno will play in the first game of the day against Parkston at 3:00.


The S/M Trappers Varsity Softball game vs. Viborg-Hurley that was suspended due to weather on April 28 in Menno, will be played at Hurley on Thursday, May 22. Game time is set for 3:15. We will finish the varsity game by playing innings 5-7.
