Scotland-Menno 10, Parker 2
SCOTLAND — Scotland-Menno took control with a five-run third inning on the way to a 10-2 victory over Parker in high school softball action on Tuesday in Scotland.
Lexie McNinch tripled for Scotland-Menno. Julianna Santiago, Kadence Bierle, Kimberly Kubal and Savannah Wielenga each doubled, with Wielenga driving in four. Ivana Schaeffer, Bailey Neuharth and Elle Hlavac each had a hit in the victory.
Shayla Evan had two hits for Parker. Lily Anderson, Lexie Preheim and Bridget Voeltz each had a hit for the Pheasants.
Kylie Guthmiller picked up the win, striking out 11. Preheim took the loss.
Scotland-Menno, 12-6, travels to Alcester for a triangular with Alcester-Hudson and Elk Point-Jefferson on Friday. Parker travels to Arlington for a triangular with the Cardinals and Elkton-Lake Benton today (Wednesday).

SCOTLAND — Scotland-Menno outlasted Wagner 10-9 in high school softball action on Tuesday in Scotland.
Kylie Guthmiller went 3-for-4 with a double, and Kadence Bierle had three hits for Scotland-Menno. Ervin Schrock doubled twice, scoring four times. Lexie McNinch went 2-for-3 with a triple. Kimberly Kubal, Bailey Neuharth and Elle Hlavac each had a hit in the victory.
Shealee Turner went 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs for Wagner. Libby Kotab tripled and doubled, scoring three times. Mary Virginia Ashes also doubled. Kymani Gullikson had a hit and three runs scored. Aubrey Kazena, Mara Wright and Bella Kotab each had a hit in the effort.
Guthmiller picked up the win, striking out seven. Wright took the loss, striking out six.
Wagner hosts Ethan-Parkston on Thursday.

Trappers Golf report from Coach Rokusek.
Big day for Trapper Golf today!!! For the first time in Trapper history we qualified a team for the State Tournament! The girls team finished as region runner up today! Macy Rokusek (13th), Campbell Mogck (6th), Kailin Odens (5th) and Sutton Bueber all are going to State for the girls!!!! Congrats ladies! We cannot be more proud of you!!!
For the boys today the top 21 boys were able to qualify for State. Brigham Rokusek played hard and came home with 19th place and will be going to the State Tournament!!! Congrats Brigham!
The coaches are super proud of all the kids today. The played really hard in the cold and windy conditions. It was a great season for all. Everyone showed improvement and gave it their best every week. Looking forward to State and to next year too. Things are looking up!

The Trapper golf team had their final regular season meet today before regions next week. The girls played in Springfield where Macy Rokusek got 14th, Kailin Odens got 11th and Campbell Mogck brought home the 2nd place silver medal! The boys played in Tyndall today. All 4 boys had personal best tournament scores! Wyatt Fischer shot a 90, Asher Sykora carded an 86, Erick Buechler came in with an 85 and Brigham Rokusek was the low boy with an 84. Brigham tied for the last medal but missed out because of the tie breaker. Super proud of these kids and we are really playing well and ready for regions. Keep it up!

We are saying goodbye to some wonderful educators this year!
Shelby Sherard, Steven Bray, and Tessa Hertel are moving on to other positions in other districts, and Betsy Knodel is retiring after 28 years of teaching in the Menno School District!
Mrs. Knodel was surprised this afternoon by former coworkers and students at our staff appreciation meal!



Trapper Football Summer Workouts will start June 1st! They will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00-8:30am for any 2026/27 8th-12th grade male student interested!
The first week will be in Menno, and then alternate between Scotland and Menno after that.

S/M Trappers Track Meet change of schedule--Due to the projected weather forecast for the Hanson track meet on Monday, the meet has been rescheduled to Wednesday, May 20.

ALEXANDRIA — The Freeman Flyers swept team honors in the Cornbelt Conference Track and Field Championships, Thursday in Alexandria.
Freeman beat out Canistota 153 to 134.5 for the girls’ title. Irene-Wakonda (131) and Scotland-Menno (103) also broke the century mark.
Freeman won nine events, including the 400 (51.39), 800 (1:48.96) and 1600 (4:21.67) relays. Vaida Ammann and Landrei Baker ran on all three relays, with Ammann also winning the 100 (12.99) and Baker winning the 400 (1:01.32). Rylee Peters, who swept the 100- (15.09) and 300-meter (47.75) hurdle races, ran on the 400 and 800 relays. Cadence Hofer, who won the long jump (16-1) and triple jump (33-9), also ran on the 800 and 1600 relays for the Flyers. Makenzie Scharberg completed the 400 relay, while Penny Schultz ran on the 1600 relay for Freeman.
Irene-Wakonda earned six victories, with Ava George having a hand in three. George won the 800 (2:31.03) and 1600 (5:40.76), and anchored the Eagles’ 3200 relay (10:46.91). Rose Libby, Maryn Lyngstad and Alexa Matthews completed Irene-Wakonda’s relay win.
Also for the Eagles, Callie Peterson won the pole vault (8-0), Bella Healy won the shot put (32-3) and Lanie Van Beek won the discus (98-4).
For Viborg-Hurley, Olivia Hanson won the high jump (4-6) and Ava Marts won the javelin (105-3). Scotland-Menno’s Zoe Schaeffer won the 3200 (13:41.63).
Freeman scored 159 to beat Viborg-Hurley (119.5) and Hanson (106) for the boys’ title. Scotland-Menno (81) was fourth.
Freeman’s quartet of Luke Peters, Luke Miller, Brody Sorensen and Tate Sorensen wo the 800 (1:33.00) and 1600 (3:33.72) relays. Miller also won the 800 (2:04.95). Lane McCune claimed the 3200 (10:52.86). Alaric Knittel won the javelin (163-11).
Viborg-Hurley won four events, with Lincoln Vannorsdel sweeping the 110- (16.25) and 300-meter (43.14) hurdle races. Godwin Johnson claimed the 100 (11.29) and Andrew Madsen won the high jump (6-0) for the Cougars.
Scotland-Menno won the 3200 (9:27.47) and medley (4:09.96) relays, with Luke Bierle and Mirik Vaith running on both winning relays for the Trappers. Izayah Ulmer, who won the 1600 (4:52.55), also ran on the 3200 relay, along with C.J. Bjorum. Jaxon Stoebner and Riley Keppen opened the medley relay for the Trappers.
Irene-Wakonda’s Cain Healy won both the shot put (47-7) and discus (137-6). Jordan Stockland won the pole vault (12-0) for the Eagles.
