American Poetry/Essay Contest Winners
The Rames-Bender Unit 152 of the American Legion Auxiliary held an Americanism Poetry and Essay contests recently. The poetry theme was “Always Remember Serving Veterans Not Self.” The original work of the students had to include three verses, four lines per verse and could rhyme but did not need to. The essay title was “How can we address the health and well-being of our veterans, military, and their families?”
The local entries were judged by members of the Auxiliary at a recent monthly meeting and first place winners were then submitted to the district.
Those students winning at the local level include 5th Grade - Bailey Neuharth; 6th Grade – Fallon Rich. Essay winner in the 7th/8th grade category was Rylan Derby, a seventh grade student. Local first place winners received a $10 Menno Money certificate.
Auxiliary president, Judy Headley, coordinated the contest with cooperation from local administrators and teachers.
Thanks to the staff and congratulations to all students who participated and showed their Patriotic Spirit.
