NORTH SIOUX CITY — Dakota Valley scored six runs in the second inning on the way to a 16-7 victory over Scotland-Menno in club high school baseball action on Friday.
Jackson Boonstra and Jaxon Hennies each had three hits for Dakota Valley. Brendan Barnett had two hits. Dylan Lukken, Jake Pruchniak, Beau Pollema, Beau Jones, Isaac Klemme and Grant Van Der Hul each had a hit in the victory.
Tyrus Bietz and Trent Guthmiller each had two hits for Scotland-Menno. Ajay Herrboldt doubled in the effort.
Van Der Hul was credited with the win, allowing one unearned run and striking out three in 1 1/2 innings. Pollema struck out five in two shutout innings of work for Dakota Valley.
Dakota Valley travels to Parkston and Scotland-Menno hosts Elk Point-Jefferson on Monday.
Due to the MS track meet being rescheduled to Monday the 10th, the Scotland/Menno Trappers home baseball game against Elk-Point Jefferson that afternoon will be VARSITY ONLY. The game is still scheduled to start at 1:00pm at the Lily Pad in Menno. The Trappers will open the regular season tomorrow at Dakota Valley. The varsity game begins at 4:00pm with JV to follow.

April 6 is National Student-Athlete Day! This was started by the National Consortium for Athletics and Sports, this day celebrates the student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. Congrats to all our Menno Student-Athletes.

Congratulations to Ms. Sternhagen and her 1st hour Algebra I students! This morning after the flag pledge, a short sound bite from a song was played over the loud speaker and each class had the chance to identify it as quickly as possible and call the office with their answer. Ms. Sternhagen and her students were the first to correctly identify "Jailhouse Rock" by Elvis Presley. The winners received a gift basket of treats and other items, which earned two thumbs up! The next round of "Name that Tune" will be next Friday morning.

Menno School will not have school on Friday, April 7. Monday, April 10 will be an E-Learning day.
April 11th-14th, we will have a week-long, "Caps for Kobee" fundraiser to support the Viborg-Hurley student recently diagnosed with osteosarcoma. $1 per day donation per student to wear a hat. Students bring your $ to the office
Menno State Bank and Insurance Agency will be hosting an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 8th for children preschool through 4th grade. Please see the flyer for more information.

Parents of students in grades 5-8 should ask their student(s) for the field trip permission slip with sack lunch choices on the back. These are due back to Mrs. Knodel with the money by April 21st. Any questions should be addressed to Mrs. Knodel.
The Menno Varsity track team will go to a meet in Hartington, Nebraska tomorrow. Meet starts at 10:30 am.
An email was sent out to all 5-12 grade band parents for the upcoming track meet on April 13th. Please check your emails, we are asking for donations and volunteers to work the concession stand.
