
Club baseball report from Yankton online paper
MENNO — The Freeman-Canistota-Marion Sticks took an early 2-0 lead and held on for a 2-1 victory over Scotland-Menno in club high school baseball action on Wednesday.
Tannen Auch and Sawyer Wipf each had two hits for the Sticks. Rocky Ammann doubled. Evan Scharberg, Luke Peters and Easton Tschetter each had a hit in the victory.
Jayce Walloch doubled twice for Scotland-Menno. Bryce Satler and Riley Keppen each had a hit.
Tayden Kerrigan picked up the win, striking out three over four shutout innings. Auch struck out five in three innings of relief.
Trent Guthmiller took the loss, striking out five in his 3 2/3 innings of work.

Today was National School Principal Day! On behalf of the Menno School District, we would like to thank Mr. Foss, our PK-5 Principal, and Mrs. Mudder, our Colony/MS/HS Principal, for making a difference in the lives of children! Any students in grades 8-11 interested in participating in girls and boys basketball next year, please sign up in the office. There will be a meeting on Thursday, May 2 at Scotland at 2:45. The bus will leave at 2:20 and we should return by 3:45/4:00.

Thank you to all staff and students who contributed on Hat Day to support the Kubal family from Scotland. With your support, we were able to raise over $800 for them to help with medical expenses.

We had some big winners this morning in the Elementary, as our final Character Counts and Super Reader awards of the school year were given out, along with the Student of the Month!
The Character Counts winners did a great job displaying the trait of Citizenship in April. They included: Camden H., Brinley H., Blaise R., Trace H., Oliver G., Corbin B., and Colt K.
Super Reader were: Macie H., Jack M., Bo G., Kora F., Branson S., Anna M., and Jaeger E.
Our April Elementary Student of the Month was Lillian W.! Way to go everyone!




All FFA members and their parents are invited to the FFA Banquet next week Tuesday, May 7 at 6:30p.m. A catered meal will be served, awards will be handed out, a recap of the year will be given, and new officers will be inducted.


The Trapper Golf Team was on the road again today. The JV played in Springfield and the JH played in Tyndall.
In the JV division Ella Rempfer finished in 14th , Adie Rempfer finished in 10th, Grace Vitek finished 8th and Macy Rokusek finished in 6th place.
In the JH division Raelynn Taylor finished in 11th, Joanna Fergen finished in 8th, Emma Rempfer finished in 7th, Sutton Bueber finished in 5th, Autumn Rames finished in 3rd and Campbell Mogck brought home the first place medal!!

Please note that ALL LIBRARY BOOKS are due May 1. Please check desks, lockers, backpacks and your home and return any remaining library books this week in order for us to begin taking inventory. FCCLA inducted members and gave out awards this evening! Special thanks to Ms. Lau, Mrs. Stoebner, and Mrs. Fischer for giving their time and talents to support these students this year.


Good luck to the middle school track team today as they compete in Freeman for the Wizard Relays.

Menno School District will partner with Angela Griebel, a certified SD Driver’s Ed Instructor, to offer Driver Education for students in the classroom June 3rd through June 7th 2024. The summer driving hours will be in June and July. Students who are 14 years of age or older on or before January 1, 2025, will be eligible to take this course. The cost is $300 for Menno Students. Pick up your forms in the office.
