Screening America will be at Scotland High School on September 29 doing heart screenings on anyone from age 11-34. This will be done in the gym lobby. They are on a mission to save lives through their Young Hearts Cardiac Screening program. They have been going to Scotland school offering this service every other year. A minimum of 10 people is needed for them to come and do the screening.
Each heart screening includes: history/consent form, limited echocardiogram (cardiac ultrasound), electrocardiogram (ECG), bilateral brachial arm pressure, evaluation for Marfan syndrome, and board-certified cardiologist review. There are three forms to complete: consent form, health history form questionnaire, and a Marfan form completed and signed by the parent/guardian. You can go to www.screening-america.com and print the required forms (or they can be picked up at the main office in school). Screening cannot be done without the completion of these forms. The cost of the screening is $89.00 with a sibling discount half-off ($44.50). Scholarships may be available—please contact Sheila Wek or Jacque Liebl. Credit cards are accepted or checks can be made to Screening America. To schedule an appointment, please contact Sheila Wek at 387-5161 before Monday, September 27, at noon. The screening is open to all young people ages 11-34 and takes about 15 minutes. For more information please visit the Screening America website: www.screening-america.com or call Jacque Liebl, athletic director. Transportation to Scotland will be provided.

The fall blood drive is at Peace CRC on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 1:15-6:00 pm. If you have a Vitalant online account, donors can make appointments that way. You can also call Janelle Bender at six zero five-six six zero-8338 to make an appointment. Anyone that is 16 years old needs to have the parental consent form filled out before being able to donate. Ages 17 and above do not need the form. Forms are available for pickup at the school office.
