Thank you to everyone that donated food to the HARVEST FOR HUNGER food drive. Menno school weighed in at 332.60 lbs. Now we wait and see how much Scotland brought in. Thank you for all your help! Mrs. Fischer

Great time at the SDSU Human Anatomy Lab. No pictures of the lab, but have one of the wonderful women attending at Buffalo Wild Wings afterwards.

The Computer Gaming and Design class has been working on coding a website, using HTML and CSS. The final project is making a Website with links to different pages. Pictures to come soon!

There will be a Jim River Trappers football parent/student information meeting for summer workout programs with Coach Rozy on Sunday, April 3, at 4:30 pm.
Meeting will be held in Scotland at the main gymnasium. The meeting is for those interested in playing football next year in grades 8 through 11. If you have questions, contact Coach Robb or Coach Rice.
*This workout program will also be open/offered to non-football athletes also, if there is enough interest.

Menno School will be dismissing early at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 1 for teacher in-service.

The highlight of the year for Anatomy students is right around the corner. We will be heading up to SDSU to see the Human Anatomy Lab, tomorrow. Been two years since the last visit!! Would be glad to see any former students!!

High School PE had fun with games that they developed for their project!

Congratulations to the Menno Radio Quiz Bowl team on their 2nd place finish in the Hot Country 93.1 Quiz Bowl Tournament. The team consisted of Josie Stokes (captain), Kaelea McCoy, and Sophia Hogan. The team lost to Vermillion by a 7-6 score that had to go into sudden death.

SUBJECT: Return to Normal School Nutrition Programs SY 2022-23
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued numerous waivers and additional funding for School Nutrition Programs (SNP) – allowing many students to eat free school meals without collecting applications. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022 was signed into law (public law 117-103) on March 15. This law did not extend any special authority to USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). This means that, unless Congress takes special action:
• There will be no extension of universal free meals in SY 2022-23.
• There will be no extra funding for School Nutrition Programs in SY 2022-23.
With this move back to pre-COVID practices, schools should not plan to offer universal free meals to students in SY 2022-23. To claim free or reduced-price meals, schools will need to collect student eligibility through direct certification or with an approved household application

There will be track practice on Friday morning at 6:30

The results of the voting for the Sculpture Wars Competition is now in. Team 2 won first place with the Colosseum exhibit; 2nd place was won by Team 1 , the alien Hotel Zandar exhibit, and third place was the Bunker exhibit, a rather sardonic view of our future. Great job to all teams, Kaitlynn Abma and Brianna Zeeb, Desiree and Samantha, and Seth Kacy and Bryce Sattler. You did a wonderful job of creating interesting sculpture using recycled materials - awesome work!
Thank you to all who took the time to vote, we appreciate you too! Mrs. Schultz

Congratulations to the following Menno High School students who won the local competition in the Young Illustrator's Art Escape Contest - Brayden Sattler, Kaitlynn Abma, Aiden Heckenlaible, and Seth Kacy. Their artwork will now advance to the state competition. Good luck to Brayden, Kaitlyn, Aiden and Seth on the next round of competition!

Kids Heart Challenge Grades 4-6

Menno School will be dismissing early at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 1 for teacher in-service.

More students enjoying jumping rope and supporting the Kids Heart Challenge

The students in elementary and 6th grade helped support the Kids Heart Challenge by jumping during their physical education class. Totals aren't final but students raised over $1000 for the good of American Heart Association. Thank you to all the parents and students who took the time to help. The kids really enjoy it and it is for a great cause.

Anyone healthy enough to give blood can be a hero to those who've suffered illness or injuries. Every two seconds, someone needs blood. And this year alone, transfusions will help save or sustain the lives of more than 5 million patients. The next blood drive in your area will be on April 13th from 12:00pm - 5:30pm in the Main Gym at the Menno School.
