Mrs. Knodel is looking for people who would like to share a craft they enjoy with her students. Some of the crafts would be crocheting, knitting, embroidering, quilting, wood burning, stained glass, etc. The students will be a part of a craft class from 9:55 - 10:40. She would like people to present on Fridays. Dates available are March 8, 22, and 28; April 5, 12, 19, and 26; and May 3 and 10. Sixth Grade English students are working on creating cause and effect essay. Recently, they used an investigation trail to identify the cause and effects of different scenarios. They worked in teams to get the correct answers.

Juniors and Seniors: There will be a representative here on Wednesday, February 7 from 10:45-11:30 to talk about the Build Dakota Scholarship. All Juniors must attend, and Seniors can if they want to. This meeting will be in the conference room. See Mrs. Fischer with questions.
FAFSA UPDATE: The colleges and universities will not be receiving FAFSAs until mid-March. Families will need to wait until the end of March to check on their FAFSAs at the colleges and universities. Everyone is in the same boat with the delayed FAFSA this year so don’t fret. It will all get done it just may take longer than usual this year. Thank you for your patience

IRENE — The Irene-Wakonda Eagles claimed a 41-38 victory over the Menno Wolves in girls’ basketball on Friday.
For the Eagles, Quinn McDonald registered 11 points, five assists and five steals. Madison Orr and Mady Peterson both posted eight points with Orr’s 15 rebounds and Peterson’s three assists.
Kaelse Derby scored 17 points for the Wolves.
Irene-Wakonda (3-11) travels to Wagner today (Saturday). Menno (1-12) travels to Bon Homme Monday.

IRENE — The Menno Wolves defeated the Irene-Wakonda Eagles 42-38 in boys’ basketball on Friday.
Erick Buechler scored 14 points for the Wolves. Izayah Ulmer posted 11 points.
For the Eagles, Jens Hansen dropped 12 points. Brody Johnke had seven points.
Irene-Wakonda (1-13) travels to Wagner today (Saturday). Menno (1-13) host Canistota Tuesday.

CANISTOTA — A balanced scoring attack helped Canistota hold off Menno in girls basketball action Monday.
Natalie Becker led the Hawks with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. Kayla Pappendick added 13 points and four rebounds. Hannah Hoffman chipped in with nine points and five rebounds.
Ashton Massey led Menno with 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Kaelie Derby added 15 points and two rebounds for Menno.
The FCCLA and FFA Chapters are hosting the annual Souper Bowl Food Drive February 5 - 9. Like last year, it will be a competition between the Elementary, Middle School, and High School. Soup, crackers, and other non-perishable food items can be dropped off in classrooms or the office and will be picked up daily by a FFA or FCCLA officer. All of the food will be donated to the Bethany Food Pantry in Freeman. Thank you for donating to this great cause!

Mr. Schmuck's Bio II class collected samples, incubated the cultures in a petri dish, and then viewed the different types of bacteria under microscopes.
